Leading community organisation and social enterprise Settlement Services International (SSI) has welcomed George Lekakis AO as the new Government Relations and Stakeholder Advisor in Victoria.
George Lekakis is a well-known leader, driving and influencing social change and pioneering and embedding multicultural policies within government and the community services sector.
Prior to this appointment, George was the CEO of Fronditha Care, providing aged care services in Victoria and NSW and had previously been the Executive Director in the Victorian Department of Business and Innovation International Education Division and Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
George also served in a voluntary capacity as the Chairperson of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria and as the Director of the Footscray and then the Southern Region Migrant Resource centres and the New Hope Foundation.
In 2010 George was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the community through leadership roles in multicultural organisations and developing and implementing services to support those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
SSI CEO, Violet Roumeliotis, welcomes the appointment of George Lekakis to the Victorian team, recognising the extensive experience George brings to SSI and his valuable contribution to the sector.
