Our free program offers a range of complimentary training and upskilling opportunities to help registered participants reach their full potential.
How we can support training for providers
We work together with care providers, among others, to bring the best outcomes for the sector’s workforce and seniors.
We drive collaboration opportunities that can help upskill the care and support workforce, as well as improve talent retention.
Home Care Experience Centre
The Home Care Experience Centre is a purpose-built facility that provides a space where you can speak face-to-face with our team and receive in-person training support, including:
- Access to ready-to-use laptops and printers
- Help with navigating e-learning platforms
- Hands-on training, including accredited First Aid Training, Manual Handling, and Dementia Workshops
- Workshop
- 1:1 discussions with your Participant Services Delivery Officer
We offer a drop-in support lounge at the flagship centre, Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. We are located at the Little Saigon Plaza Bankstown on Level 2/462 Chapel Road, NSW 2200.
Our ACT Experience Centre delivered by MARSS is also ready to assist and is located at Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre, Level 2/180 London Cct, Canberra ACT 2601.
We’ll be bringing the same flagship amenities and experiences to areas outside of Bankstown via our Mobile Training Organisation Unit. Check out our upcoming training dates on our events & webinars page.
Training Essentials for New Workers
These are accredited and non-accredited short courses that you can do either online (at home or in our experience centres) or face-to-face to help you prepare for a career in aged care.
Online Training Modules
EQUIP Aged Care Learning Packages
Free learning modules are available for anyone interested in or pursuing a career in aged care.
Developed by the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre and funded by the Australian government, these entry-level modules have been carefully curated to give you the foundational knowledge to set you up for a successful career and boost your employability.
Topics include:
- The aged care quality standards
- The Australian aged care system
- Person-centred care
- Exploring the role of nurses, PCWS, allied health professionals working in aged care
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness
You’ll receive a certificate of completion at the end of each short module and can access them anytime from anywhere.

Home Care Online Learning
Access SSI Training and Education developed e-learning on various aged care topics including:

First Aid (HLTAID011)*
Industry-accredited training, resulting in a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, is available for HCWSP Workers who haven’t done this course before or need to renew previous accreditation.
You’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for ….. on completion.
There are two modes of delivery, 1-day face-to-face or 2-day blended training. (online and face-to-face)

EQUIP Aged Care Learning Packages (Advanced) – University of Tasmania
The Equip Aged Care Learning Modules by the University of Tasmania are an excellent and free training resource for those already in the aged care profession. Each module focuses on essential concepts within contemporary aged care, encouraging participants to deepen their understanding of the topics through additional resources at the end of each module.
Learners will also be able to access an additional certificate detailing learning and CPD hours at the end of each learning package.

The SSI Home Care Workforce Support Program delivers Dementia Workshops and Training through our training partners every month.
Enabling EDIE (f2f)
Enabling EDIE (Educational Dementia Immersive Experience) is an immersive workshop that uses virtual reality to enable you to see the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia.
Talk with Ted (f2f)
Talk with Ted is an interactive and practical workshop that allows participants to experience what it’s like to talk with someone living with dementia. It uses an avatar with adaptive learning to focus on improving gaps in knowledge and communication skills.

Cultural Diversity
SSI is a leading provider of diversity and inclusion training. We have developed a 7-part online course designed to support HCWSP workers with the principles of providing culturally responsive support in aged care.

- CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
- HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
- HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
